New restrictions to slow the spread of coronavirus in Australia include the immediate closure of skateparks nationwide.
In a press conference last night, Prime Minister Scott Morrison announced that from Monday, March 30, playgrounds, outdoor gyms, and our beloved skateparks would be closed.
Fortunately, we’re still at will to skate in isolation for good health, but there is a new two-person limit for gatherings in public spaces, which means no more hitting the city or a spot with a crew.
Given these new restrictions, it’s time to get creative and build whatever you can at home – knock up a block, a flat bar, build that backyard mini-ramp you’ve always dreamed of, or DIY the fuck out of your driveway.
When you feel the need to skate away from your home, do it in isolation at a street spot. But, reconsider hucking – our hospitals are already overwhelmed so keep it chill to avoid injury.
Please adhere and keep clear of skateparks so that councils don’t take drastic/idiotic measures like the Fraser Council did last week by dousing their local park in sand.

Many skate shops are still open, so please support your local during this tough time by shopping in-store while following the social distancing guidelines, or buy online if your local is temporarily closed.
The skate shops listed below have copies of the new Slam:
1991, 335, ABD, Basement, Beyond Skate, Boarders, Concrete Lines, Evolve, Extreme Skates, Fast Times, Goliath, Hemley Skateboarding, Laate, Locality Store, Lodown, OCD, Parliament, Pass~Port Store And Gallery, Precinct, STM, Street Machine, The Park Geelong and U.P.S.
Keep it clean, stay safe and healthy so that we can beat this thing.
