BURLEIGH BREWING KEG JUMP | SAVE THE DATE

24.05.2021

The Burleigh Keg Jump is back with a $7k prize pool of cash and craft beer.

Burleigh Brewing Co are celebrating their love of beer and skateboarding once again with the Burleigh Keg Jump. The comp will go down just after Go Skateboarding Day – Thursday, July 24 – with the brewery setting up some skateable obstacles and inviting 20 of Australia’s best skateboarders from around the country to skate the course.

The main event is the keg jump where skaters launch over as many kegs as they can, competing for $2k in cold, hard cash, and also free beer for a full year. There will also be $2k worth of “best trick” prizes, where skaters can win instant cash and cartons of beer per trick. The last keg jump was held in 2019 and was won by Sam Atkins, who managed to clear 11 kegs. Word has it that Sam is coming back in 2021 to try to beat his own record.

This year, Burleigh Brewing will honour the legacy of Trent Riley by matching the cash prize pool of $4k and donating an equal amount to Trent Riley’s family.

In addition to the competition event, Trent Bonham will be showcasing his amazing collection of rare and original skateboards as part of the Taphouse Artist in Residence program. Trent is a former pro skater and co-owner of Precinct Skate Shop and has spent the last two decades building an incredible collection of pristine, un-skated boards spanning from 1987 to now.
